Executive Coaching To Jump Start Progression

Executive Coaching To Jump Start Progression

Project Background

This client was at a senior level in a public sector organisation but was dissatisfied with her career progression. She’d attended a number of promotion boards but had been unsuccessful and was at a cross-roads with regard to whether to keep trying or whether, in fact, what she really wanted was a change of career.

Broad Brief: After a recommendation from another client, A approached Maxlowe for help to work through her indecision.

Maxlowe Solution

A practical mix of face to face sessions supported by telephone coaching.

At our first session face to face session we outlined A’s career to date, where she had been most successful and the tasks and responsibilities she most enjoyed, her weaknesses and other issues which were obstacles to progression.

We then reviewed A’s promotion options and what these might mean on a personal level, as well as clearly identifying alternative paths. In our third session, we worked through each options to establish which might be most likely to deliver the career satisfaction A sought within the next 3-5 years and identify any drawbacks.

With a clear target role in mind, Maxlowe provided ongoing coaching and mentoring, with guidance on training, interim roles and relationship building required to enhance A’s prospects of achieving her goal.

A has now secured a new role which focuses entirely on the responsibilities which have delivered most success and satisfaction in her career to date. Her role has plenty of scope for personal development and good prospects for future promotion.
